Is it proper for me to date now?

by Anonymous

I lost my fiancee 3 months ago. Is it proper for me to start dating now? My heart is still heavy over the loss. I still weep each and every time I think of him. Friends advise me to start dating as that is the quickest way to get it off my head. Should I?

Hi Romantic!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. There's really no set amount of time one is expected to grieve after losing a loved one. Personally, when I lost my Uncle in April 2014, I can still feel that sadness like it was yesterday. I can hear his voice, imagine his face or walking in a room, smell his cologne and wish he were here. My whole world was at a stand still for a moment and sometimes I can still feel that feeling. With the Holidays approaching it's easier to fall right back into the somber mode I felt at first but I'm hear to tell you that life goes on. With time!

For now, I suggest you continue to grieve and allow yourself to feel what you are feeling. You will know when it's time to get back out into the swing of things. May the good times you shared together continue to comfort you in this difficult time and know that he would want to see you happy in whatever you do :) PS. The family of your beloved would be a great source of strength for you because they are also grieving and you can comfort each-other. Love is with you!!!

Wishing You The Best in Love~
